heater core question

Default heater core question

my heat is not working (actually it hasnt been working for a few months),...now usually i can tough it out but im tired of losing the feeling in my toes,...so what i want to know is,..is there a way i can check to see if the heater core is not working without taking off the dash?

you can use an infared temperature gun. the difference in temp should be about 20degrees between the inlet and outlet hoses.

another thing you may want to try is back flushing the heater core.

Does you blower work?...It could be that the little hanger that goes from you climate control to your heater core could have become disconnected thus causing no heat...Check that...Then check your engine bay to see if the antifreeze hoses are connected to your heater core

yea the blower works,..and i know the cable on the back of the **** is connected because thats what i checked first,...anyone else got any input?

ill say this right now, its a ****** bitch to replace the heater core on just about any car.. i had to replace mine when i got a defective one when i did my gsr dash conversion and everything has to come out.. i was talkin to my mailman about it and a shop charged him 10 hours labor plus parts on his s-10 blazer

i have a heater core/blower box from a 00 SI for sale if yours is messed up. you can convert your climate control to the 99-00 with this. IM me if you're interested.

Check to see if the valve is opening. Look in the engine bay for the heater hose valve.
