Default gsr swapped 92 civic (want a/c installed help!) thanks!

hi like it says. i have a whole 92 kit and i hear the d series compressor will fit on the gsr

anyone know if the gsr compressor and bracket will fit with the civic a/c lines?

need to know for the summer! thanks.

also i put the spare compressor in a crappy plastic bag to prevent dirt getting in... didnt plug the holes cuz i didnt know to do so. (noob here) been sitting for approx 1 year. . u guys still think its ok? will it screw up the rest of the system? or will it just fail itself eventually.
my techs say just slap it on... but i dont think they care :S

thanks peeps

(D A/C kit) + (B engine) + (B-series CRV or Del Sol VTEC A/C bracket) = cold air.

Head to the dealer, pay the $65 or whatever for a 99 CRV A/C bracket, bolt it up, and go.

when you do hook it up make sure you get the system vaccumed, to remove all of the moisture in it. since it has been sitting so long.

it should, i think you might have to get the ac lines of it too, seeing that those are set up different. not 100% so don't quote me just trying to help

Either bracket will work, yes.

The GSR compressor won't fit the Civic lines, and the GSR hoses won't fit the Civic evaporator, as I understand it. You'd need to get custom lines met. It'd probably be cheaper to find a used D series compressor.

well... i bought the 92 civic compressor and crv bracket... fits. but the belt dont fit. 92-95 civic compressor belt. so i'm gonna have to go find a bigger one, or i'll see if the gsr belt fits. the civic one is brand new too.

I suggested to the tech that he could grind down the pulley adjuster a little bit so there is more play in the slack. there is about 1/2 inch of metal there that the adjustment screw rests on so it could be grinded quite a bit (the belt barely doesnt fit) then there would be more play in the tensioner, but my tech said i'm on crack pretty much. the 12mm bolt should be tight enough to hold the tensioner in place so nothing breaks... but he still thinks i'm a chauch. neways i know this is useless without pics but i dont have any :S so any feed backwould be much appreciated

Longer belt FTW, or take the adjustment bracket to a machine shop and ask for another, what, 1/8"? I can't visualize what you're saying, but from what you've described, you should be able to make it work. Pics would be immensely helpful.

yah sorry for no pics i'm not smrt enuf. yet yah the pulley has an adjustment screw that u loosen and tighten to adjust the belt right? b/c the screw was already at its loosest that i could make it even looser by grinding down the pully bracket (where the adjustment screw rests on) then there would be more play in the pully. make it even looser. but the tech said no and its a stupid idea... i still think it'd work... but i found another belt from parts and i'm down another fuggen 35$ argh... the kits not even charged yet so i COULD still be dumpiong more $$ into it. i'm wayyyy over budget now

i didnt evne try to find an aftermarket belt, is it a huge difference in price? cuz my belt is 35$ so i have a spare 92-95 civic belt now :S i'll try to sell it to get my money back

Look at it this way..the kit from the factory is about $900, plus about a grand in labor. So far I'm thinking you got off cheap.

cheaper than usual... but considering i work at honda and i put the kit in myself... grr haha i was just told buy the guy who sold it to me that everything is fine and i wont be spending more than 400$ but i'm way over that and he's not budging a bit interms of giving some money back... yah i got a great deal... but i expected a non refusable deal i wish i knew it costed this much before i started.

and like i said... i dont evne know if it works yet haha... hopefully i'll find out today.
