I just experienced the same problem. I was driving and stopped to get gas and when I drove off my speedo and odometer wasn't working. There is an underdash fuse and I believe its called meter. Check that fuse to see if its blown. If its not then your vss probably took a ****. If you have a haynes or helms then you can check your vss to see if it is working properly. Check the fuse first. Then check for continuity to ground for the black/ground wire in the plug. Also make sure that the yell/black (power) wire has voltage.

You will need a voltage meter. Jack one side of the car up and put it in nuetral. Make sure you have the voltage meter hooked up to the blue/white wire and ground it to the chassis. When spinning the wheel the meter should detect a small pulsating voltage above 3mph. If not you probably need a new VSS. Hope this helps.

no i dont think there is a fuse for the VSS. most of the time its the speedo that is bad so you might have to get a new one.

Yes there is a fuse for the VSS, and its also inline with the alternator, and the O2 sensor... When that fuse goes you will get all kinda random codes. Primary O2 sensor, secondayr O2 sensor, VSS and like one more.

I will have to look for that fuse tomorrow... Under the dash or in the under hood relay. I really need to get a helms.
