Ever Welded Pulley to Crank??
Has anyone ever broke their pulley bolt??..well I did, i had to drill it out and then tried to re-tap the hole... not enough of a hold...
So I ask, can I weld the pulley to the crank, which it looks like i can...then the bolt to the pulley for "balancing purposes" ??
I sounds nuts I know, but the motor- Y8- is a strong motor, I have no money for a swap, and don't like the Idea of pulling my crank...
Timing belt // pump is not even 1000k miles old, so thats good.
I really need the car to get to school...this sucks bad and out of ideas and money.
Thanks...

you should try welding something to the bolt itself and use it like a breaker bar. You'll need a new bolt but you won't be taking much of a risk.

the Y8 is not a strong motor, and welding your pulley or something to the bolt is not the greatest idea. i know you don't want to pull the crank down, but that's probably the safest and best way. and is really not that hard.

If I read correctly, I'm not trying to take off the bolt..since the bolt stripped, I'm thinking of welding the crap to the Crank itself lol

I meant by Strong is to Healthy.. less then 70k.
finding a crank is a PITA, and dont I have to take off tranny too. not cool, especially after a auto to manual swap
..just say I need this car fast...missed school twice thanks to down time

well, i know it suck do to down time but, with a problem like this there is only one way to fix it. finding a crank or hell even a Y8 complete block shouldn't be that hard or expensive.

your not really swapping motors. basically, drop the oil pan, remove the oil pump, disconnect the piston rods, drop it and then install the new one.

i didn't really think about, but mike1114 does have a really good point.

The crank pulley bolt is strong as expletive for a reason. Welding it seems pretty risky. If it doesn't hold, kiss your motor goodbye.

this is probably the best way to get it out ..... i was trying to take my head off my da and had a head bolt strip im hoping to grind off the head of bolt remove the head then weld on a bolt to make a new head and then trying a crazy cheater bar to get it out
