Cool, someone tightened this crank bolt with no pulley on it.
So I have an EJ1 (automatic) and the crank pulley is tightened down on it, what seems like to spec, and the pulley is off. Why, I have no idea. But it is, and it's pissing me off.
I have all the tools in the world (even the crank pulley holder and whatnot) but without a crank pulley on the motor I'm ****ing lost as to how I'm going to remove this bolt.
Anyone got tips and tricks on this?

A high reverse torque 1/2" Impact wrench should get it off.
Last resort would heating the crankshaft snout with a torch if you must.

Sitting in my yard at the house, I don't have a compressor out here. I have all that stuff at the shop but no way to get it there.

Soak the crank bolt in PB Blaster overnight. Then fill one cylinder with nylon rope and then break the blot loose with a long breaker bar.

Ah, nylon rope, good idea. It's been soaking and soaked again just can't figure out how to STOP THE MOTOR so I can break it loose. I've been doing the "fill the cylinder" trick but I haven't found anything that wouldn't just compress under the pressure.
I think I have a roll of nylon cord that would work perfectly for this. I'll go dig it out and see what happens

Ended up taking a slip wrench to the crank gear, got it off, got the crank gear off of another Z6 block I had to put on it, but the end of the crank is a bit chewed up from someone losing the crank pulley off of it before. Yikes!
Going to get a better look tomorrow in the daylight, if she's too chewed up I'll have to yank this motor out and drop my other block in and use this head.
But it might be usable enough to get the crank pulley back on there and loctite it real good with a good square key in place, might hold.
Also gotta pick me up another timing belt tomorrow. I don't like using a used belt.

I wanna know HOW the hell they tightened that bolt on there so tight without the motor spinning!
It's like they did it on purpose!

I want to know how THEY did it and left it in your yard without you knowing. If you were riving around with no crank pulley/alternator you would have known really quick...

It got to my yard on my tow truck. >_>
The end of the crank is pretty ****ed up... Someone could throw a crank gear on there and use this frankenstien pulley they have (welded key into pulley.... it's p ghetto) but I don't really want to **** with it.
I got a timing belt on there (borrowed the one off of my EF since it's got a bad head gasket atm) and it ran good but the plug wires need replaced (They're falling apart).
I'm tired of messing with it at this point... If someone came up and offered me a few bills for it I'd probably sell it.

Bolt was already removed, thread over. I don't know why people are trying to give me advice on removing the bolt I already got out now
Crank snout ended up being junk... It's usable with how the pulley is (they've got the key welded in and like, ground to fit the ****ed up section) but I don't want to **** with it anymore. So I'm going to sell it for parts + shell.
