engine code 14
i have a cell light code 14 in my 93 hatch with an h22 swap thats turboed.my friend told me it was an electronic air control valve(eacv).what dose this mean an how do i fix it?
that's the electronically controlled valve that regulates how much air bypasses the throttle when it's closed. The wiring may be bad, or it may need to be cleaned. Another possiblity is that your idle speed is incorrect, but you'd probably notice that. There are procedures on how to test the IACV (EACV); you can find them in a Helm's or Hayne's manual.
Another possible cause is a bad ECU. I got a bad chipped ECU that would throw a code 14 and make the car act crazy. When I switched to another one, the code vanished and the car ran perfectly.

Wait, what would the diff be between an IACV and an EACV? They throw different codes? I"ve never heard of this EACV
- IACV yeah....but not the other one...

take ur idle air control valve (located ontop of the throttle body as a cylinder which usually unscrews with 4 screws/bolts) off and clean it out, but if u never removed it before buy a new IACV gasket because if it hasn't been changed in awhile it'll be all dry rotted out and will fall apart when you take it off...
