1- When the headlights are on, all of the controls to the left of the steering wheel (dash light brightness, moonroof controls, etc.) do not light up. The only control on that side of the steering wheel that lights up is the cruise control button.
2- the climate control buttons do not light up unless i bang the crap out of the bottom of the dash. then they eventually turn on after a few good wacks. one side of the temperature control though is a lot dimmer than the other side.
3- are the buttons on the steering wheel (accel, decel, etc.) supposed to light up at all?
4- all my lights are dim in general, should i replace all of the bulbs? how do i go about doing that? what size bulbs are they?
5- the dome light over the rear seats lights up when the doors are opened when the switch is put in the middle. is the dome light above the dash supposed to do the same? mine's not....

I searched on H-T and looked through my Civic manual but I'm not sure if it's just bulbs, a fuse problem, or an electrical problem that I've never even heard of. How do I go about fixing these problems up? I'm a newb, I'd have to be walked through this with pretty detailed instructions Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

1. Those do not light up. The CC button is the only thing that lights up.

2. i had the same problem with the climate control... I eventually replaced the 2 bulbs and that fixed the problem.

3. The cruise control buttons on the steering wheel do not light up.

4. There are a lot of different bulbs, have you tried adjusting the dimmer switch?

5. The light above the front seats is called a map light, it only turns on when you flick the switch.

wow dont i feel like an idiot for most of those questions haha
yes, my dimmer switch is all the way up and they are still dim. i've looked into some of the amber dash bulb installation posts to see how to replace bulbs, but they are using #24 bulbs which people are saying are too big....... is there any way i can find factory size replacement bulbs? where do i look for them and how many of each size do i need?

well, if you're looking to replace all the bulbs its going to be a pain...

To see what type of bulb you need, try searching on http://www.slhondaparts.com and look for dash components. They'll have the bulbs there and type.

i did possibly find an answer to another problem i have with my wipers. when i shut them off, they stay where i shut them off instead of returning to the down position on the hood. do i need a new motor? MOTOR, WASHER (DENSO) is the name of the part i found

Yeah, i had the same problem as well. I replaced the motor and it fixed that issue.

I ordered a used one off ebay, they pop up every so often.

As far as the bulb searching, you're going to have to sort through the categories until you find them... that's why it's such a pain. Just wondering, are you're headlights dim too? Have you tested your battery?

i dont know if my headlights are dim, i dont have anything to compare it to, really
one of my headlights went out not too long ago though and i had it replaced. i don't know if that means anything.

i'm still confused about what im looking for on that web site as far as the bulbs go....

by the looks of the faqs on replacing stock dash bulbs with amber-painted ones and what not, it looks like just replacing stock bulbs with new factory bulbs is just as difficult and confusing who's done it before? can a newb like me do it?
