Default Complicated IAC Problem

ok, i can't find the answers I need for my IAC because my setup is different than all the guides I have found, i searched all night last night but I give up and i'll ask for help.

ok heres the setup:

y7 motor / head / ECU
y8 Engine Wiring Harness / intake manifold (5speed) / TB / exhaust manifold / Distributor

So basically.. it was a y8 EX when i got it, but i put a y7 motor in and left all the parts from the y8 on it

Anyway, it runs but idles a little rough and has NO power. It throws CEL with code 14 (IAC)

Can anyone tell me if I was supposed to wire it differently or what could be the problem?

With the y7 ecu you need to have a 3-wire iacv on the throttle body. It will not work properly with the 2 wire iacv on the back of the intake manifold.

Well I still have a y7 manifold. So what should I do? Take the IAVC from the y7 and put it on the y8 or what

This is correct.

The ECU is looking for a three wire IACV when you have a 2 wire IAC connected.

You'll need to wire up a three wire IAC according to the DX configuration using the three wire IAC.

I don't have the OBD2a pinouts with me now, however, Helms/Haynes manuals do have the pinouts. Compare EX with DX and wire the added wire.

Good luck.

You can take the entire y7 throttle body and put it on the y8 manifold, but you will have to seal up the iacv holes on the back of the manifold. You also have to swap the y8 throttle body rotor (bronze piece that connects to the throttle cable) onto the y7 throttle body.

so it would be easier to just add an extra wire?

By simply unplugging a 2-wire IACV, you have effectively disabled it allowing no air to bypass it.

If you're keeping the Y7 ECU, then slap on the Y7 throttle body and add a wire (and modify the throttle rotor with the Y8 piece).

Just in case other people like yourself are searching for IACV info:

2-wire IACVs can't be controlled by ECUs that originally controlled a 3-wire IACV and vice-versa.

So I can just unplug and disable it all together? Or did I misunderstand you? If i AM able to do that, would I have any bad effects?
