EK9/CTR headlights real or not?
How can you tell if the EK9/CTR headlights are real or not?
I know people take their oem ones and paint them to keep the honda stanley outer case!
Having problems with understanding the city lights!
PLEASE HELP before I get ripped off!

lol dude, your sig is perfect. my buddy used to own an EF hatch and he ALWAYS asked people to trade for his EF. it was real funny.
but, are you buying the CTR lights online, or from someone around your area? if its online, show us a link.
also, the black on the CTR's is definitely more of a chrome black. this local around my area tried to pawn off a set to me, but you could tell they were custom. haha

EK9 headlights will have a city light socket built into the headlight. It also is not black, more of a chrome grey as was mentioned before. It will also say Stanley on the actual headlight lens.
If you aren't paying $300-$400 they're probably fake FYI.

If you have been around them for a while then the differences are pretty disctinct. Understandable for a person who hasn't.
The fake CTR headlamps have more of a black cheap looking housing, and also amber reflecters. Whereas the OEM Authentic headlamps eliminate the amber reflecters and are just plane white. Also the OEM versions have more a gunmetal chrome housing, usually costing from about $350-$550US depending on where you purchase them. Knock-offs usually cost anywhere from $50-$130US
Here are a couple links of the the knock-offs and Authentic.
The first link is of the knock-offs on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...48160
The second link is of the OEM versions on the JDMLAND website. You might have to find the the lights yourself. Just click on the make of your car ie. ek9, eg etc to the left.

Re: EK9/CTR headlights real or not? (ninja_gaiden)
there are a couple things to look at when comparing
1. first thing is that the official JDM CTR headlight is made by STANLEY
2. the colour is a dark gunmetal chrome rather than chrome, black, gunmetal (as seen on replicas)
3. you will find a city light bulb socket in the main headlight area unlike other headlights
4. the turn signal reflector is not there at all...not amber nor white reflectors, there is an outline where a reflector would be but its just a continuous dark chrome like the rest of the headlight
5. USDM and CDM headlights (along with replica headlights) have a shield that covers the headlight bulb (usually seen attached from the top of the opening of the socket)...there is no shield at all when it comes to the JDM CTR headlight
hope that helps
