Default ej1 problems....stock sohc

My car has been idling back and forth from 900 rpms to 1500 rpms, its been doin it for a while now, i've brought it to a mechanic to get it fixed and they never fixed it, and not only does it idle but it also runs really bad, like at full throttle the car will hardly move and sometimes it will catch and actually run smooth for a couple seconds but then go back into like a stutterin kind of mode..... anyone know what the problems might be???

When's the last time you replaced your timing belt? Or it could just be that your timing is off. Take it to a different shop. Or take it back to the one you took it to and ask them if they tried fixing it.

Mine has that same problem.. I failed emissions, so I took it to a mechanic to get ti fixed, it idled fine before I took it to him, when I got it back, it bounced around. I messed with my idle adjustment screw, and it didn't do much.

But, I put my foot under the gas pedal and pulled it towards me, and that fixed it.
