i was just wondering if the timing belt was off two teeth, would i even be able to start my car? or would it start and just hesitate upon acceleration?

2 teeth? Eh you may be able to get it running but it would be backfiring and sputtering all over the place and probably would not idle.

would one be less dramatic? i'm only asking cause my mechanic called and told me that when he was replacing the timing belt he saw that it was two off, but that seemed like it would be very noticeable.

I think i have a similar issue. I think my could be out of timing as well. My car starts just fine but it idles in between 2k and 1.5k when it gets to proper operating temp it still idles high. The car also hesitates (sputters) under acceleration. if you hold the accelerator down long enough it finally clears up and goes but after you switch gears, it just hesitates again. I have new plugs and wires so i know thats not whats causing it.
