Default DIY: tail light gasket for EK hatch WITH printable template (no more water in trunk)

After weeks of having water in the trunk of my EK hatch, I determined the problem was the tail light gaskets. Here are the steps I used to make my own homeade gaskets.

things needed:
1. tape
2. scissors
3. 4 sheets of craft foam (.75 a sheet)
4. computer paper
5. marker/pen
6. clear silicone (optional)
7. template (download link is below)

1. download the template I made

2. Unzip and open "bottom.pdf" and "top.pdf" with adobe acrobat reader

3. print both pictures on 11"x8.5" paper using these printer settings:
-turn off page scaling
-turn on auto-rotate & center

4. cut out both pieces and all holes

5. tape template together

6. trace template on craft foam using marker or pen

7. swap taillight gaskets out

8. use clear silicone where necessary for added protection

OPTIONAL: I doubled up on the foam and put sealant inbetween them for a thicker gasket

Pretty sweet. Maybe i'll return the ones i just bought from honda and do it myself. Is clear silicone the adhesive i should use to hold the gasket to the taillight? I noticed when i took mine apart i saw that it had been glued on.

Silicone will work just fine for a sealant.
It has been a few weeks now, and no water is in my trunk.

Made up a printable template of my own as the link to the one attached to this thread by @tommyj is no longer available.

Few little instruction on my post below regarding getting it to print at the correct size/scale

@ib420phil ,although you asked for a template back in 2008, here is a template on the off chance you're still in need lol
