But not that difference. Ive run a z6 oil pan on a y7 before - just gotta modify it a little to fit where the y7/y8 runs the dip stick.
The major difference between the motors is the y7/y8 have different pistons. The ring lands are closer to the tops of the pistons, which is good for emissions but bad for turbo and FI.
Same crank, same rods, same bearings etc etc

WOW, so does that mean i could run a b8 oilpan on my y8 block?

If you drilled a hole for the y7/y8 oil stick - yep it will work. You also gotta drill some holes for the screws that hold the pan to the block - it doesnt line up perfect. But its easy to make it work.
