d16y8/y7 crank VS. d16z6 crank
does anyone know exactly why they went to a single oil hole in each journal on the d16y8/y7 cranks instead of the 2 oil holes they had on the d16z6? i keep having bearing issues on my d16y8 and i think this might be partially to blame.

Re: d16y8/y7 crank VS. d16z6 crank (cranny)
i burned up a bearing real bad. i dont know how the thing didnt spin. it got so hammered that it was like .05" wider towards the middle of the bearing. Crank got worn down about .007", progressively worse the farther it got from the oil hole. i beat the **** out of it so i'm to blame but this never happened to my much higher mileaged d16z6's.

i heard that's a myth. I dont see any difference in the oil pump other than the dipstick hole. i'd assume the lack of 50% of its oil holes would have something to do with it.

yea, i'm sure they'd never made a mistake or do something to save a buck or 2.
The motor had about 60,000 miles on it. It was OEM honda bearings. Fairly obvious by the color coding.
Cant wait to get rid of this hunk of ****. Worst car i've ever owned, hands down (and i've had over 14). It's a Monday car for sure.

Just curious if there is any proof to that. Not doubting you, i'm just curious as to why it's weaker, technically. Is the Girotor smaller? It looked the same to me but i didnt measure it.

I read it on turbod16 somewhere. It was like the y8 flows 37 cfm and the z6 is 48 or something like that.</TD></TR></TABLE>thats friggin weird. I wonder why they would use a weaker oil pump and 50% less oil passages in the crank. That's a drastic change in oil volume and pressure.

no it's flow, it works fine until you get little more throw off. My motor was fine at 140,000 miles until it got boosted and spun a bearing. When you get little more play or you use some of that oil for other needs like supplying the turbo you get issues with not enought flow=not enough pressure
