D16Z6 rebuild question!!! Need help asap please!!!
Okay, here is the issue. I am building a D16z6 block with D16y8 components such as crank, D16y8 oil pump (not the main seal beacause that is bigger in the D16y8 thank in the D16z6).
The only thing that I realized is that the D16y8 oil pump has a opening to insert the oil dipstick. The other thing is that I do not have the oil pan for the d16z6. I bought the block bare with no rear main seal or oil pan or pump. I figures I could use the D16y8 components that I had.
Questions are:
1) Other than the motor looking funky beacuse it has 2 dipsticks, will this affect anything motor wise keeping the D16y8 oil pump. Can I plug the whole with something?
2) can I use the D16y8 oil pan on the D16z6 block. I have noticed that the oil pan gasket is completely a different style, and that the pan is aluminum. Other than that, is there any other differance that will not allow mw to use this pan?
Thanks!

i did a set up like that a while ago
for the sencond dipstick on the oil pump what we did was we got a y8 dipstick
and ct the top off. it wouldnot affect anything cause is a hole thru nothing goes though it other than the dipstick itself.
for the oil pan ok if you are using a complite y8 set up you would not have problems at allthe block does not matter what matters is what you are putting into it
i would recomend to use a oil pressure gauge on the first start up just in case
good luck

What do you mean by a complet y8 set up? I can only use the y8 oil pump beacuse the y8 main seal cap is bigger than the z6 so one bolt does not match to the block. I had an extra d15 main seal cap and it fits perfect. Will I see any leaks from the block due to the y8 oil pan gasket? I will be using rtv gasket on the pan anyway. Thanks for the advice on the dipstick. Were did you cut it at? Near the bottom?

When i use the Y8 main seal cap, it looks like its seals to the block perfectly, but the dowel pins on the cap are too thick for the block. Also, only one dowel pin fits were it is supposed to go. Only three 10mm bolts bolt up. The other dowel pin and 10mm bolt do not even match up.

I know everything you just stated, and I have been there before. You have a radius mismatch between the Y8 oil pan and the Z6 rear main seal holder. Use all Y8 parts, or all Z6 parts. Or go ghetto and fill the gaps with Hondabond and hope it doesn't leak.

So, do you think the three bolts are sufficient to keep the y8 main seal cap sealed to the block? Aslo, what are your suggestions on the oil pump hole for the dipstick?

Never mind!!! I figured it out!!!! I had an old d15 and took the main cap and oil pump off of it. THis then made the D15 oil pan fit perfecly. THanks!
