Default 2 questions! (d16y8)

Hey Guys, been long time.

1) I was wondering is someone remembers where is the d16y8 oil pump port and shim tutorial... i searched but i cant find it.. i remember there was one?

2) Would it be good to send the crank to the machine shop to do that extra oiling hole in the crank?

Since im boosting this d16y8, i thought that some acl main and rod bearings in STD size + ported and shimmed y8 oil pump + extra holes in the crank.. would be nice...

If anyone can help me out, it will be greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Swap the crank for a Z6.

I cant get a z6 crank... in my country everything is hard to find and very expensive... the machine shop work over the crank isnt an option?

And pray tell, what would you ask the machine shop to do? Port the pump. Shim it if you must. Been running a stock pump ported for 3 years now.

I was wondering if i could tell the machine shop to do the extra oiling holes in the crank... ive noticed the z6 has 2 holes per journal and the y8 only one... i was thinking in making them do the other ones? would this be a good idea? (besides porting and shimming the oil pump?)

i wouldn't do anything like that to the crank.

Just buy a z6 or a6 crank for $70 + shipping. they don't go for much more than that.

With the "book" you wrote, you sure are asking basic questions.

More pressure is not needed as the D-series can't even provide the RPM necessary to facilitate this. The other side of the coin is proper bearing clearances combined with oil weight to get proper pressure. Extra volume can be had by porting. The limitations will come from internal block passages.

As said before, just get rid of the Y8 crankshaft all together. The time and money spent to "do it right" you could have already had a good condition replacement "upgrade".
