Default d16's....the z6 vs. the a6.

ok guys i need some d-series knowledge/help. im going to do a d-series turbo build, and have the choice between these 2 motors they both have similar amount of miles on them, and theyre both stock. so pick a choice and explain why or just tell me why you think the d16a6(out of an 89 crx si) or a d16z6(out of a 95 civic ex/si) is a better platform for turbo

i also made another choice incase you see both of these motors being not as good as your choice so let me know h-t!

I love my z6. I run the **** out of it day after day and it still revs just as high and strong as the day I got it. It has 104k miles though, which is low by some standards. Both are awesome motors, as are most honda motors.

Z6. Much better platform imo to boost. I've been pushing mine at 6psi (I know, weak) for about 3 months now with 0 issues.

crx guys tend to do NA stuff to their a6's

I'd go with the z6, the differences are fairly minor between the motors.

well im going to use the a6 unless i can find another z6, my z6 is still in my civic and id rather not swap it out and all that. i just wanted to see if there was too big of a difference to be worried about im hoping to see 20+psi and some numbers.

Heh, *****.

15psi daily on a stock Z6 (aside from headstuds).

Granted it's on a small turbo, but it hauls ***.

I'm partial to the Z6 simply because I have one with over 230k miles on it and it's still running strong with daily abuse and simple oil changes/tuneups.

yeah the z6 is much more reliable than the y8 due to the shitty d16y* oil pumps. I am about to put a 99 d16 in my car, but I just ordered a high volume oil pump cause I wasn't about to use that awful stock one.

A little OT, but where'd you find a high-voume oil pump?
