ok...im down to two choices
since i'm low on cash (and dont tell me to save for a b series) i'm debating on a d15b vtec vs. a d16z6 for my civic ex. my old motors got 260,000 miles so i need a replacement motor. which one should i go for?? i need some opinions and i plan on going turbo.

z6 but... are you sure you need a new motor and not just a tune up? that seems like mid life from all the stories and cars Ive seen.... Is there something actually wrong with it?

I had the y7/y8 mini me with the Ex tranny. Technically it wasn't a y8, but it got the job done til I got my b series. Definitely get the tranny at least.

Re: (97mini-me)
well if you already have an ex, you should have a z6, so you should just get that re-built with some nice forged internals and then save up for boost
you did say you're low on cash though... oh well

Re: (jdm123)
z6 will be the cheapest, they can be had if you pay shipping lol, people give them away or sell them for cheap as hell after their b-series swaps, but also get the jdm d15b transmission with the optional LSD, its well worth it

I would agree with what SoccerKing3000 had to say. Spend a few more of those green pieces of paper depicting dead presidents to get the LSD, you will not regret it, especially if you plan to boost the motor. I actually preffered my JDM D15B over the Z6 that was in my EG but that is all personal prefference.

Re: ok...im down to two choices (CooBlueDAB)
nothing much is wrong with it. it runs fine but the compression is really low. starting from the front of the car
170 140 140 180
Front
you tell me if i need a new motor.

How about minime? It would be easier then the full engine swap. I would go z6 tho. Just becuase there are more rod and pistons choices.

from looking at those numbers, you might just need a new head gasket. try a vacuum test sir

I bought one for $1 from a guy on here daklown.. It was the complete engine and tranny with pretty much everything but a TB and a few vac lines.
All I had to do was drive to nasvhille with my brother and load it in to my astro van (69 miles away)
I sold it locally for $200 after my b-series swap.. wish i hadn't =\ I need the tranny!
