Default D16A head onto a D15B7 block?!?

I know that the D16A DOHC motor from a 1989 Integra LS will bolt right up to any D series tranny, but has anyone ever tried swapping the D16A DOHC head onto a 1.5 D15B7 or 1.6 D16 block? My theory is that it's possible and will only requre some minor wiring issuses and the proper ECU. If anyone has any info on this type of swap then lemme know. Reason I'm asking is because I have the car sitting outside and I drive a 1992 Civic DX.

i dont think it is possible...the single cam heads are half the size of the dohc heads...

actually I have seen it done on a crx. ZC head on a D16A block. I don't think there is anything to mod but for the $$$ I think you would be better off with a sohc vtec head.

I would do the VTEC head swap but I already have the '89 Integra with DOHC D16A motor sitting outside and I got a B15Z1 engine in my EG Civic so I think I will attempt to do this swap and see how it goes. Did the person who swapped the heads notice any differnece? Did he change ECU's and wiring's? Anything else you can tell me?

ECU wise, I believe he used the stock crx si ecu. does your dohc motor have vacuum connections to the distributer?

Hmm...last time I looked at the motor I didn't notice any vacuum lines coming off the distrubitor. Why would there be anyway? Did the guy change his SOHC timing belt for the DOHC D16A version?

because from what I remember, some dohc d-series had the weird distributer.

Did that guy have that type of distrubitor on the DOHC D16? If so then what did he do to the vacuum line? How did the engine run? Any problems?

no he didn't. I was just wondering because I knew some d series integras had them.

both the ZC and d16a are DOHC...d15b's and d16z's are SOHC...a DOHC head cannot be bolted onto a SOHC block
