High idle...and knocking sound...???

High idle...and knocking sound...???
I just bought a 93 Civic Hatch DX. It has a USDM H23a1. When I bought the car it ran fine, it idled at 850-900 (normal or whatever) no sounds it ran fine, when I got on it it was fine.
Now 4 days later, it idles high at 2000. The motor aslo rattles when idle, accelerating, basically all the time. One of my friends thinks the engine might be knocking, but he isn't for sure. Any body know what a motor that is knocking for sure would sound/drive like? Could the high idle have anything to do with the knock? All thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

check all the vacuum lines...it sounds if one of them might of come loose. also check the fuel pressure (unless it has a stock regulator)
