D15 into 95 ex plug & play ?
I have a 1995 civic ex sedan , I wanna put a d15 in it & I was wondering if I can use EVERYTHING from the z6 or will I need any extra stuff for the swap . I just wanna pull out the z6 & put the d15 in & go , is that how all d series works ?

Dizzy is different on the Z6 over the D15B/B7/B8
And the ECU won't work properly on a non vtec D15x. Might even cause damage when it pumps fuel for vtec when it's just not there, not sure if the trim is able to compensate to that extreme.

Pelayo94 - Which specific JDM D15B?
TomCat39 - It won't switch over to the VTEC fuel map because it won't be connected to the needed solenoid. There will be a check engine light for sure but I've driven on a P28 with my engine for about a year. No issues (not saying anyone should do it though LOL).

If you are talking about the best JDM D15B (which is of course, the OBD1 JDM D15B VTEC) then I highly recommend you read these two links:

Re: D15 into 95 ex plug & play ?
Yes, that is the best one. I have already done this swap into a non-VTEC OBD2 chassis. For the price, it's a hell of a motor. Just make sure you compression test it before you buy it.
The only reason the OBD1 version is better than the OBD2 version, is because the OBD2 version is a dual-solenoid, 3 stage design that is more complicated and difficult to find an ECU for.

I just noticed you posted a link a few posts up ^^

You will need to do a tune up on the engine before you install it, which includes a timing belt job (because you'll have no idea when that was done last on this used engine). If you are using the D15B's tensioner, you will need to buy a Civic VX timing belt. Otherwise, you can use a D16Z6 tensioner and belt. This is because the number of teeth on the various D-series belts are all different. You need to match everything up correctly.
EDIT: Oh yeah, you will also want to use a Civic VX water pump.

Re: D15 into 95 ex plug & play ?
When I did my D15B VTEC swap, the distributor that came with it was bad. And from my research at the time, a lot of these JDM D15B's come with bad distributors (I don't know why, my only guess is that the importers are blowing the coils accidentally when doing their compression tests).
If yours turns out to be bad, you can replace it with a D16Z6 (Si) or a D15Z1 (VX) distributor.

Wasn't sure if the vtec fuel map was purely rpm triggered. Glad to know it's not and will just fail emissions due to the CEL.

The rest is mechanical, really hard for it to be bad with less than 100,000 Kilometers while US and CAD ones last way over before showing the red dust of death.
