d series swap help
is this place a good place to order a d series engine from? its just find it really hard to believe that they say they have a jdm d16y8 that also has an hp rating of 168 hp at 116 lb tq. if this isn't a good place i was thinking of h-motorsonline for a d15b vtec, but i hear its hard to find parts for that u know? my shop gave me some BS excuse about how i couldn't order the a vtec engine through them bc of the VIN number not matching that motor for my 92 hatch cx , which i guess if valid(my hatch burnt a valve and it would cost about the same to replace plus my engine has 211xxx miles. but they're wanting me to spend 595 which includes shipping, for a d15b7, i figure might as well get an engine i want if i'm dropping that much money.

They don't have junkyards in KY?
I wouldn't bother with the D15B. You could find a D16z6/y8 local for a similar price.
I hate waiting for shipping, and parts are a dime a dozen.

there is no JDM d16Y8. the highest horsepower D series was 130 HP. D16y8 redlines arent 8200 rpm, theyre 7000. the displacement of a d16y8 isnt 1595cc's, its 1590. and the d16y8 has either a 9.6:1 or 9.8:1 C/R. those are specs for a SiR/SiR II B16 I THINK

rims and things said that was a type-O, and they also dont have any D15b's so look elsewhere.
as for not wasting your time on a D15b vtec, thats bull. it produces the same numbers as a d16z6 or a y8. and w/ less mileage for the same price as either, if not less.
honestly if you dont plan on boosting or building the motor internally, i wouldnt waste my money on anything other than a stock D (stock as in what came in the car), swap the CX tranny for a funner car.

Re: (schardbody)
yeah but i figured for around the same price, maybe a hundred more i could at least have 30 more horses than regular d15b7 u know?

except you wont. D16Y8 stock is estimated at 127 (Crank) HP. they either fucked up and mixed up the D16 and B16, or they labeled it as a JDM motor and are trying to rip people off(which i think it is). there is no such thing as a JDM D16Y8. dont buy from them, theyre shady...
