Default My Dx hatch needs help

I have been talking to my friend and he says that I should go with an ls/vtec engine the only thing is I dont know much about engines. I am a "noob" to the import scene. I wanted to know what type of engine I should look into to. I am not going for world class fast just a nice fast ride. I also have the problem of not having alot of money. If someone could help me with this I need to 1 no what kinda engine is quality and two is it expensive.

Also on a side note does anyone know how hard it is to install an engine is it hard to learn can anyone tell where I could learn something to get me started.

a D16z6 (single cam vtec) is real cheap OR you can go with the B series. B16, B18's are also a possibility. Majority of the people here probably would suggest you go with the B series which isnt a bad suggestion at all. Depending on where you live, the cost of the engine and the swap varies. It ranges from 1000-2500? Both D series vtec and B series are very good quality engines of course.
