a Turbo D is reliable, and Ive seen people pull low-high 12's and thats with a good driver... but the d16z6 has I believe 9.1/1 copression pistons, and you can use ARP headstuds and boost it at 10psi safely, or that's what Ive read.... Push upto about 200-220whip... with a good tune and ecu... But a B-Series isnt that hard to actually swap into your car.... You have a OBD1 GSR or B16 Motor and the axles, and complete swap, it will slide right into your engine bay and thats all.... You wont have to wire in VTEC, since I believe all 1992 Civics, are pre-wired and you said you had a 92 DX I believe... But that's my opinion, once you go B Series you probably wont ever want to go back to a D trust me I know from experinece.... hehe..... Good luck....

If money is an issue, I suggest you stick with the SOHC. Even if you do all the mechanical work by yourself, a once-in-blue-moon price for a b18/b16 will cost at least 1000$+ I got my JDM d15b for 300$ complete without a transmission though. I always wanted to boost. So now I can and it’s a lot cheaper than dual cam boost. If anything (hopes not) breaks down, it’s a lot cheaper to replace. Think about it…

Seriously though - take your money and put it into an English class.
