compression test is in, b16 turbo 180 flat bad news?
so i tested the compression today on my b16 and it came back 180 psi on all cyl. its a pretty good sign that its all the same but is it really bad that its that low? i added a cap of oil and it bumped the comp up to like 220 or so, so that would leave me to believe that the rings are old and going bad right? the car doesn't smoke, eat oil, or coolant. should i be worried by these numbers or is that ok for a motor with around 70,000 miles on it? thanks for your input

The compression should always go up when you add oil even if your compression is good. Did you have the throttle open when you did the tests?

max psi is 184
min psi is 135
max difference between cylinders is 28psi....hope this helps...
this is for just a b16a2

thanks for the oil info, and yes the throttle was floored the whole time. im pretty happy with the consistancy of my numbers. although i might be rebuilding it to be MUCH beefier soon as i have a lot of excess cash and soon to have a lotta time where the car isn't really needed.
