CEL only comes on when jumping connector?
Well today i decided to fix my ignition timing since i replaced my ignition coil on my dizzy. Funny thing is i have no CEL but when i went to jump my connector my CEL started flashing. It said my map was bad. CEL 3. Recently i had a CEL 3 about 2 weeks ago or more. It was due to a cut wire on the MAP sensor. I fixed it and the cel went away instantly. Then i removed the ECU fuse. And then later replaced it. Turned car on and bam no CEL.
What would cause this haunting CEL? Could this have affected my performance all this time? I removed fuse again and it still wouldnt go away. I re checked my wires on map and everything is ok. It only went i way when i removed my ECU thinking it was fried or chipped. But its not chipped and i didnt see anything burned. Now its off but im concerned as to why it stayed on like this.

The MAP sensor is a critical sensor. You have a repeating code 3, so there IS a problem in the MAP sensor circuit. Your wiring job is the prime suspect. The MAP sensor connector has three terminals. Two should get 5 reference volts from the ECU with the key in ON(II). Check that. Also use the multimeter to check for a short to ground in the wires.

I checked the voltage and both read 5v while using the map ground wire. So as far as voltage everything seems to be good. The inly thing is i used a butt connector for the ripped wire. I don't know if that has anything to do with it. Im gonna drive it and jump it again tomorrow to see if it comes back. Its weird though.
Also i got the swap this way. With the ripped wire. One day i decided to move the wiring while removing my intake and that how i found out this problem. Cuz it came completely loose and my car instantly turned off. So not my wiring...LoL...except for the butt connector.

The code 3 problem appears to be intermittent, so you may need to wiggle the cut/spliced wire to reproduce the problem. Again, you DO have a MAP sensor circuit problem. Fixing it will almost certainly solve the problem.

Well like i said. The light went away. I tried wiggling it and everything. And drove the car also and nothing. Weird how it only went away till i unplugged the ecu. And that the light would never come on during normal driving or atleast blink. Only when jumped.
Thanx for the input. Ill fiddle with it the next couple of days and if it does come back on ill update this thread. Thanx bro

Well when my dad comes back from salvador ill have him solder the wires instead of them being connected with a butt.
