Default CEL Code: MAP Sensor

Hi,

My CEL went on and when I jump the connector I got 5 flashes that means I have a bad MAP sensor.

Totally noobie here but what exactly a MAP sensor do and is this a basic thing that I can do or do I have to bring it to the dealership?

And where is this located? Just found it.

Now could you tell me if the one for 94-95 is the same for 96-97?

Thanks

Make sure you dont have a broken wire or a connector in the wrong location, some vehicles, the MAP plug and a nearby plug are the same???

I might be reading the CEL wrong.

The first 4 blinks runs about 2 seconds each and the 5th one is fast.

Anybody can help me out.

Am I reading it right for just 5 blinks or 4 long ones and 1 short.

That's is actually a code 41... Primary O2 sensor heater circuit.

Check all of the wires and contacts to make sure they are clean and free of dirt and corrosion.

Are you familiar with electrical trouble shooting... Reading resistance and voltages? You can test the heater cuircuit with a volt meter.

where is this actually located? No I am not familiar reading voltages.

nevermind, went under the hood today and saw the connector 1 wire is actually loose, cleaned it and reset the battery and hopes that I would not see that code again.

Thanks for your input on this thead. I did a wire tuck and couldn't figure why my car was missing and smoking. The MAP and TPS have the same type connector. I had them switched. So thank you Duane_in_Japan I was starting to regret doing the tuck.

I figured as much. Whenever you get a MAP sensor code, it's almost never a problem with the sensor itself. I have never seen a bad MAP sensor on a Honda, ever - and our shop works on over 70 Hondas and Acuras per week.
