Re: broken turbo civic (ek forever guy)
A knock could come from many places, try to isolate the location by putting a screwdriver on the engine and put it to your ear. If your lost motion assembly is old, or worn out (they tend to either get caked with oil, or dry out.) that will cause a thump against the camshaft which could make a sound similar to a knock. See if you can figure out where it is. Oil PSI okay? coolant temp? If everything is okay on the dash, I wouldnt be worried about permanent motor damage just yet.

Re: broken turbo civic (slowcivic2k)
thats the thing it started to over heat like two weeks ago i put in a new thermostat
and it statrd running like new then the other night all of a sudden it started sounding like we were carrying around a jackhammer its a 1.8 bottom end and a 1.5 sohc frankenstein rebuilt for drag racing the guy who i brought it from used to run it its an 11.2 second car but i use it as a daily driver i was also told the rod could just be bent or it might be the oil pump

Re: broken turbo civic (doood)
are you sure its knocking?
does it perform the same or worse?
just a thought but the bolts on my header aren't spring-loaded atm and it resonates like a bitch, but only at about 1700 rpms
if its 'knocking' at all rpms its probably a different problem
but thats just food for thought
