boost or n/a power?? old timers chime in...
So i got my Maintenance all caught on my em1 si. So now i have a big decision to make....Boost or n/a?The circumstances are it needs to be reliable and trackable as i like to go to the track (road course) every now and then. Im not looking for huge numbers but, something around at least 250. I would like to keep A/c if at all possible.
If i go n/a i would like to keep the numbers matching block but, i know i will severily limited to my hp goal(B16). If it more reliable that way and will still be competitive then im ok with that. Im more concerned with the curve anyhow either n/a or boosted.
With boost i do not want a monster turbo. Jus throw me sum ideas around for sizing to keep response and a linear curve. Both need to be reliable...
Thanks guys for the help...
P.S. Car in sig is not car owned now...stock si.

this is true but if i can get somwhere near 180-190 out of the b16 i may be happy. LAst resort is switching blocks which i would keep my stock block.

Your last resort isn't far off, if you want something that will be "competitive" and the track. And 250whp is possible for N/A but not cheap to make reliable. I am currently in the process of building my first N/A build with similar WHP goals. I want to break the 225whp at my altitude(5300 ft), which won't be easy with a B series. You need to decide whether or not you are boosting. Totally different builds, in every way. Then you can start taking suggestions.

boost would get you to your goals and be a little cheaper then NA. But if you dd the car i myself would not go this route. Making those kind of number's from a b16 is hard and unless you have no problem spending alot of money to get there, so be it. I would stay na if you like to time attack and road race. If this was a car only used on the track i would boost and never look back.
