Default B16 turbo project

Im starting a new turbo project and was wanting to get a couple of pointers. I have already purchased a set of 10:1 pistons and a set of Crower billet rods. My goal will be to have a 400whp street car. What Im wondering about is the stock sleeves in the B16, will they stay together under the amount of boost i am going to have to run to get to this goal. I am not willing to resleeve the block, so im just wondering if i am setting my goal a little high. If someone would share some info of some experiences i would appreciate it. Thanks

A fellow autoxer had a GSR with a JRSC with the high boost pulleys. He said 230-250whp, I never saw a dyno so can't say. He had it for around 4 years then this year determined the bores were oval to the point of needing a rebuild. He went the easier way and went back to a stock motor with a new shortblock and got rid of the SC.

For the power level you are looking for you will need some serious boost. I can't see the stock sleeves taking that much boost and staying round. I would guess the people in the FI forum could give better advice than me.

10:1 seems kind of high for turbo, and 400 whp w/o resleeving wont last every long if its possible. there are so many factors that must be included into the equation when talking about that kind of power from turbo.

so i guess that i should include a thicker head gasket to lower compression and shoot for around 350 horse. the 400 horse was not a set in stone goal. i am just trying to get everything straight before i build this motor so that im not disappointed with my set up once i get it built .

400 can't be made with a stock block under boost you would half to maybe stroke the motor out to a 1.8 or a 2.0 and have new sleves put in , or even go with a closed deck setup , and make sure you go with a good set of forged pistons , for some reason people are under the impression that you half to have low compression to make good numbers with a turbo car but that is false higher compression with a good forged piston is going to pull better numbers

your goal is not likely to happen... thats not to say that it isnt possible... but it isnt likely...

I managed to get 325-ish on a completely stock b16, and ran it all season... but I was running race gas, and had a 3" exhaust dump. You need all of the help you can get, and the exhaust is a big part of that....

just my two cents...
