bad dist? AEM fuel rail, very hard to starting
okay heres the problem.. A friend of mine has a 97 honda civic ex.. it has 200,000 miles on it. the CEL was on for a misfire.. So i put new wires, NGK plugs cap and rotor on the car.. cleared the code.. it poped back on again after she drove it for a while.. the car idles low, 500rpm about, and has a chug i guess you would call it at idle, you can just barley feel the chug and hear it at the tail pipe..(valve maybe?) her car will crank and crank for a while and she has to pump the gas to start it. the previous owner put an AEM fuel rail and fuel PSI regulator on it.. the motor is stock besides and intake.. so im wondering if the could the distributor be going bad making it hard to start and throwing the code. the car runs fine when your driving , and could the car take a while to start bc of a larger fuel rail and needs time to build fuel psi? ive never had any problems with my car, which is a 97 ex, but mine just has intake, exhaust and starts and runs fine with 233,000 miles on it... thanks for your time and any info -Allen
