b20v head gasket and oil plug problem
hey I have a b20z block. b16a head.
I understand how it all works, tapping the oil passage in the head so the oil won't leak out because there isn't a hole in the non-vtec block.
I couldn't find the right tap locally, so i bought a similar one from the store and used a matching allen head plug.
I'm having an oil leak from the head gasket.
this could be two things.
1) the oil plug i used isn't a pipe plug. it's the same diameter from top to bottom. i understand you're supposed to use a plug that has a very minimal taper to it, so it gets tighter as it gets further into the block.
2) my headgasket is bad from being crushed twice. yes i know i'm an idiot, you're never sposed to torque a headgasket twice, but i forgot something and had to pull my head again and crush the same headgasket twice.
which of these two are probably my leak?
either way, i have to replace the headgasket. i don't want to use a low quality headgasket, i'd rather used an oem honda headgasket. how crucial is the lineup of the down pin widening? because i have to find a b20v modified headgasket or modify my own oem one which i'd rather not do because of how precise it all has to be and the crudeness of my tools (simple drill bit to widen a hole doesn't ever line it up perfectly...)
can i modify my own headgasket or should i try to find a modified b20v one somewhere and will the quality be good enough?
i can't afford another headgasket, so i'd rather get a quality one and just be done with it.
