Default b16 smoking question

So I have a erl superdeck 2 2.0 engine, sleeved, ctr cams supertec valve train etch. So I have had this motor running for about 3 months now, and it has a stock valve cover on it wtih a filter on the breather port.

Well lately, I have noticed about a quarter size puddle of oil on my intake manifold dripping from the filter, and when Im driving like 5th gear when I come to a stop like at a stop light, blue smoke starts comming out. When I go to start my car to let it run for a few minutes, theres a hint of blue smoke but not even alot.

When I bought the motor I was told it was built "loose" for application of FI. Someone mentioned to me about crankcase ventilation. What else could be making my motor smoke? Everything is fresh and new. I broke it in to 1000miles only shifting at 3k.

Should I get a catch can setup with the welded fittings on my valve cover? Would that possibly remidy the problem?

yes, check out your entire pcv system first. You say everything is fresh, including valve stem seals? you say it shoots out blue smoke during start-up?
