i have a 97 civic dx motor with ex tranny... i changed the axle seal 4 times... still leaking... do you guys think it might be the stance of my car that creates the stress on the axles to bend the seal a certain way...my car was dropped fender to the tire, but i raised it up...help asap

I would more likely suspect some sort of burr or ridge of the splined end of the axle is ripping the seal, or your ripping the seal when you slide the axle in.

impossible. The difference is a couple cm's.
If your seal is too far in, or ****-eyed, it will leak.
A groove on the axle will cause a leak too.
Go with a quality aftermarket axle like EMPI if you want OE quality

i had the same problem. My axle was causing the leak. Take a look at your axle to make sure that nothing is twisted on it. The end where it goes into the tranny. If you launch at high rpm's it's going to twist and that cause my leak. hope it helps.

I did both seals and new NAPA axles and the oil seal on my pass. side started to leak a few feeks later. It looked like the axle may have chewed off the lip on the oil seal.
I've done a few of these output shaft seals before and this is the first one that has had that happen.

Re: axle seal leak wtf? help
I had this issue on my old EF dx, what happened was when I was installing the axle, I like to put a bit of trannyfluid on the end to make it easier to pop into place, but I accidentally brushed teh end on teh ground and it got dirty, so after a time that dirt scratched the seal just enough that it dribbled a few drops if the car sat for about a week. I got new seals, and made sure it was clean, problem solved. the leaky seals were brand new and installed correctly BTW.
