i need to know if a 96 00 automatic axle is the same as a 5 speed one, at the end that goes into the spindle, reason for asking, i have 99 si front spindles i want to put on my other car that is a 98 civic dx automatic, i was going to switch out spoindles tonight but i heard the axles might not work with the spindles is this true?

'92 - '00 D-series axles are all interchangeable, automatic, manual, abs, non abs they all fit. The only thing you have to watch for is if you have a car with abs you will need the abs axles for the abs to work.

well the reason i also was wondering was because my buddy did a auto to manual on his 92 95 dx auto, he put a b16 swap in it and when he put the axles in he said the spindle wouldnt let the axle go in all the way so he had to get ex 5spd spindles i guess in order to make them work

b series axles in a 92-00 chassis are different from d series axles of a 92-00 chassis. they are not interchangeable between engine series.

i know physically they are different but when it comes to taking a d series out of a 92 00 civic wether auto or manual or abs the new b series axles will fit the spindles and work just fine

i was just confused as to wether the automatic axle will work in a 5spd spindle, which if you thinkk about it if a 5sp axles gunna work in an automatic spindle then its gunna be the same the other way around i guess

They're identical axles between the automatic and 5 speed. I happen to have a done a couple '92 - '95 auto to manual swaps. I've used both automatic and manual axles depending on what was on hand at the time, or what was in the best shape. The only difference between the EX spindles and all others is that the EX uses larger rotors and calipers. the splined hole in the wheel bearing is exactly the same.
