I have a B16B in a 92 Hatch, my axles are binding up really bad when i turn. I have tried 99-00 civic B16 Axles w/ ABS, which are exactly the same as every other B series axle from what I gathered. For some reason it does not work with the B16B. I've asked in another thread and got no response, I've searched and found nothing that helps me out. Everything I've found and read about says any B-series axle will work, which is BS, they don't work at all. Please, please help, it sucks when your car struggles to turn simple corners. Does anyone know anything about this?

94-01 Integra axles without abs is what I use, and have had no trouble. Where are you getting the axles?

I'm a tech, so i get them through my shop. you think i should try without ABS then? I have the ones with abs because i read online somewhere to get specifically the ones with ABS.

I never used them with abs, because my civic dosent have abs. where does your shop get there axles

i have a 99 civic si with the b16a2 and si's dont come with ABS, b/c if they did i wouldnt have the car

i dont know of anyone running abs axles with b-series swapped ef's/eg's/ek's including myself. im using a set from a 94 gsr

Why would you not want ABS?

abs is only used under severe breaking, and if you need to brake that hard, abs really isnt going to help out too much. a good set of pads/rotors/fluid flush and you should have all the stopping power needed to stop a honda

WOW, you've been using ABS axles this whole time on a non ABS car? That might be your problem all together.

The problem is that the axles are to long. I put it up on the alignment rack today and there is absolutely no play in the center shaft of the axle. Is there a difference in length between the abs axle and the non-abs? I thought the only difference would be the exciter ring for the ABS. And remember this isn't your regular B16, I've got the CTR B16b with the S4c LSD trans if that even matters? I had a B16A in it previously and these axle are the exact same length as my old ones. I thought that they would work just the same. Maybe the exciter ring won't allow the axle to go all the way through my hub correctly causing it bind? I'm getting non-ABS axles on Monday, sending these ones back as defective. We'll see if that solves the problems.

afaik the difference is only the ring. ABS vs. non, i don't think that is your issue at all. i might be wrong, but i'm pretty sure i'm not.

i don't think i saw the answer about the source for the axles you are using. i know you said you get them through your shop but that doesn't mean anything to us ; )

1: ABS is meant to help you maintain steering control under hard braking. it doesnt actually shorten your stopping distance

2: if your car is slammed to **** your gonna need a shorter axle.

3: i dont think any b series axle is shorter than any other, i think the only differences are in the splines.

the problem is most axles out there now, on the used market atleast, are not OE honda units. they are reman'd and at that point things start getting interesting, depending on the reman company. read the thread i highlighted to see different length axles ; )

I used brand new axles, not reman'd. I'm not sure where they ordered them from, probably Car Quest or Napa, we use them all the time on customer's cars. They meet OE standards but they're not honda axles. I really don't think the axle quality is the issue. Very rarely do we get a bad axle because we use brand new ones. It has to be the ABS ring causing the problems. The ABS ring is the only thing that is different between my old B16A axles and my new ones. I compared them before i put them in the car,

ahh, hmm. i always thought that with an abs car you'd need the abs ring, but non-abs it didn't matter since it didn't change anything dimensionally. maybe i'm wrong. i wonder if the abs rings are removeable on the axles you get? they are on some of the low level OE replacement axles, such as those from that slimball at the driveshaft shop.

If your car originally have ABS, you need ABS axles inorder for the car to run correctly. You could run ABS axles on non-ABS models, but not the other way around I believe. But yea all B series length are the same from 92-00 Civics and 94-01 Integras. I installed a set of 94 Integra B-series axles on my EJ8 4 door and I thought I broke my driver side axle because it extended out.

DO NOT pull the axles or the joint will come out, you will need to unclip and slide the boot to reposition the joint to go back in. The grease is fun to mess with.

Correct ABS and NON ABS axles only difference is the abs ring. and you can remove the ring off the abs axle if you wanted to and install it on another axle.

Any chance your civic was originally an automatic? If you don't use a conversion mount it causes some funky issues due to the engine sitting at an angle.
