99 Civic Auto trans CEL codes
My girl just picked up a 99 Civic EX auto with 150k. When we bought it the guy said it had transmission issues, and that he had replaced the lock up control solenoid assembley on the trans. There were like 4 of them in the trunk. We drove the car and the it drives fine, the trans seems to shift a little hard but so did my 97 when it was auto and it didn't throw any codes. I have done some research on the problem and it seems that most people who have these engine codes, their car doesn't drive. The codes are: p0730, p0740 and, p0715. These codes seem to come up more in the Accord forums but I've found a few Civic's with them and everyone seems to say the same thing, that the trans is fried. I don't know much about automatic transmissions so any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is the car completely stock? Has the transmission been swapped? If you reset the ECU do all three codes return? There's a good possibility that the transmission needs to be replaced.

Yes, the car is completely stock and I think the transmission is the original. The codes do return after driving for about five to ten minutes.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here. What does the diagram mean where is says "blinks" and "on"? Meaning the CEL will blink? When it first lights up it does flash but then will come on steady.

Similar to CEL codes, you can also pull transmission codes by jumping the service connector and watching the D4 light blink. Using a code reader is an alternate method, which you apparently did.

Re: 99 Civic Auto trans CEL codes
I actually have one, my brother has a wrecked 98 auto and has told me I can take whatever I want from it. Unfortunately the trans in the car has a crack in the casing right above the torque mount. There doesn't seem to be any seepage of fluid. If this is an issue i'll be looking into switching the cases. We'll see I guess.
