Default 1997 civic lx no get up n move

I recently swapped a motor in my boys 1997 civic lx, auto, non vtec (he over heated the original and I had this one half rebuilt), the swapped motor and auto trans is from an 2000 civic hatch dx. the problem I'm having is there is no get up and go (I know these are not known to be crazy fast, but still), it will eventually get up to speed but slowly, there is no passing power and its very scary to merge into he highway. it shifts really well thru all the gears and runs fine. there are no CEL codes. compression is great, its getting enough spark and seems to be getting plenty of fuel pressure. ive read thru Wikipedia that the trans has a high last gear than the original but ive got no real go in town either (I have a 96 civic to compare it to). so I need help with figuring this out, are one of the speed sensors on the trans bad or maybe the trans itself is bad, like I said trans shifts great n motor runs great
any ideas, thanks

CEL codes? CEL works? Recent ignition tune up?

The auto trans steals a lot of power from the Civic engine. Consider swapping in a manual trans.

no CEL, CEL does work it throws an o2 sensor code, motor has been totally rebuilt and tune up (plugs, wires, rotor, cap). I have swapped different things back and forth to see if any change, these are the things ive tried (distributor, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator)

Part of a tune up is checking the ignition timing.

Also fix the O2 sensor code.
