Default 98 HX Stuttering Issues

I recently cleaned the EGR vavle and also cleaned the plate / replaced gaskets. They were completely blocked up. This issue was happening before this EGR thing though. The car would run completely fine, but if I were to stomp on the throttle (full throtle).. the car would hesitate like it is hitting a fuel cut or cutting ignition? It does not do it at any specific rpm, just when you go wide open throttle. It will also throw a knock sensor code. I think the knock sensor could possibly be unplugged as I can see a plug from the top, but I would have to get under and remove the oil filter to see if so and plug it in. My question is, would a knock sensor cause the engine to do this? I could possibly post a video of it. It will throw the knock sensor light (check engine light) but when I cut the car off, it goes away. It will only come back on during hard acceleration. Any ideas?

Thanks

Knock sensor will not cause hesitation. Maybe you have a vacuum leak?

I will check it over real well for vacuum leaks tomorrow, but it drives fine til you really get up in rpms and then it just dies as in cuts fuel or ignition kind of like a rev limiter... I'm not really sure what is causing it.

Why would you not fix the knock sensor issue and eliminate more variables?

yea i would start with that knock sensor. im thinking maybe a fuel problem though, like fuel filter or pump. Any Codes?

It has to be the knock sensor as I've replaced everything else now. I had a 255 fuel pump laying around so I went ahead and stuck it in. Changed fuel filter, distributor cap, rotor button, wires, and plugs. Also did the egr plate fix. It drives fine and responds nice at wide open throttle then it will throw check engine light which is knock sensor, then start stuttering as in retarding timing at WOT. Once you cut the car off, then restart it, the CEL is gone until the engine has been under load for a few then back on! ODD as I figured it would always stay on...
