Default 97 del sol si/d16y8 - No crank no start - ignition

Hey everyone,
This issue is starting to puzzle me, I am having the issue where I turn the key and the lights on the dash come up but no cranking or clicks (setup a push button for now). I have replaced the ignition Loom and still nothing. I have checked the 7.5 amp fuse under the dash and it is good.

My last thought is the solenoid is gone but unsure if it controls just that or anything else as well.

Thanks in advance for your helpful reply

Car information is absolutely required for all tech threads. Please add.

Need car info, what happens when you attempt to start it? For example, the key is on acc, and you turn it to start to engage the starter. Do the lights on the dash stay on? Do they turn off? And you here no clicks at all not even relays?

They key is will work for the on position but when i go to crank the car nothing happens (from the starter) all the lights on the dash come on ( no CE light)

i have installed a button start to be able to drive in the mean time. (starter does work) the signal from the key switch to the control lead that connects to the starter(female connection)

ask any questions you have!!!

If it is manual, there is a switch on the clutch pedal that requires you to push the pedal all the way down before the starter will work. A common problem is the rubber pad on the pedal arm that pushes the switch will fall apart and fall out. Then the switch doesn't get pressed and the starter doesn't work.

Automatics have a switch in the console at the base of the shift lever that cuts the starter unless in P or N. This is a lot less trouble-prone than the clutch switches though.
