Default 95 Civic Timing & ECU test pins (service connector)

Still new to this Honda thing. I have a '95 EX coupe with the stock D16Z6. Replaced the distributor today because the one it came with was rigged together, but I couldn't find the ECU jumper. By the passenger floor I have a plug with a black and brown wire and another plug with several wires, but the manual says there should be a brown and a green/white, and I couldn't find it. I did the timing anyway, but the idle was at 670 instead of 600 RPM.

I guess I'm asking how important the jumper is for the timing, and if I'm missing something for the locations for the ECU test pins?

Thanks!

Zac

You can't set the timing without jumping it, the ECU keeps trying to compensate when you move the distributor. Under the dash near the ECU you should find either 2 plugs, they'll either be grey or blue depending on the year, one will be 2 wire, one is 3 wire, you want to jump the 2 wire one, sometimes they'll be shoved in a green rubber cap.

I saw the two pins, it's just that the wires were not the same colors as the tech manual stated (i think mine were black/white and brown/white, but I don't remember exactly). Because they were different, I was looking at the wrong harness, and I didn't want to short anything out that wasn't supposed to be.

This^ is the service connector. I think late 5th gen Civics have the same service connector wire colors as do the early 6th gen Civics.
