Default Advancing timing on 00 Civic Si

Hey. I read something on JDMfan.com about advancing the timing, and it said I have to do some crap with a paperclip in the ECU and some stuff.

What's the real story? can you just loosen up the distributor and advance it without doing that ECU thing? Thanks.

Which wire are you supposed to put the paperclip in? the 2-prong green one I though. Do you put it in the ECU or engine side? Do you run the car when adjusting it? Thanks.

yes you plug it in the service plug where the ECu is at. and yes the car has to be running, that is the only way it can be adjusted. you have to have a timing gun .....if you dont i wouldnt mess with it.
