I was having almost the same problem couple days ago and could not figure out the problem. Until I checked the hose from the radiator to the head. The clamp was so tight that it actually cut the underside of the hose, So when pressure started building is forced all the water out through that tear in the hose, causing me all my overheating problem.
I dont know if your problem is that simple, but just double check your hoses for tears and cuts.

I had similar problem on mine. I checked with one of my other forums which is run by a 15yr Honda tech and said to turn your heater temp to max no fan then turn your bleeder screw by the upper radiator hose. Haven't had any over heat or surging idle since.
