so im driving and i shift into 3rd and it goes in fine it goes up about 1000RPM and it pops out of gear? is there anything i could do to fix this problem

Im haveing a similar problem, when i down shift to second, as the rpms decrease it pops out of gear, any suggestions?

i noticed that happend to me right after i was rear ended in my eg 4dr. driving it back home like a wounded animal, it was popping out of 3rd gear. so im guessing ur gears are discombobulated. jk. have a pro check it out.

mine started popping out of secnd soon after i put a clutch iun my car . . . probably fucked up aroudn there somwher, because its a new clutch and its already slipping like hell at 3 weeks old

change tranny fluid or new clutch, or has bad syncro.

How hard is it to change syncros?

You should probably find someone who knows how to rebuild tranny's (I charge $100 plus parts)

If the rear tranny mount is extremely bad then that could also cause it to pop out, but it would most likely pop out of all gears, not just 2nd

Alright, well it only pops out of 2nd and 4th . . . i figured it might be the engine mount, becuase from the way i play it out in my mind, on deceleration the engine pulls the shifter forward, pulling it towards the front of the car, ultimatly pulling it out of 2nd and 4th . . . but pulls it furhter into 1st 3rd and 5th . . i might just be dumb though =P i have a new tranny im about to put in though so no sweat if its the sycros, thanks for the hlep guys =] any suggestions on where i should buy some inserts?

it did this before something blocked 4th im just thinking a whole new tranyand motor would be good this B18C1 has been NO good! Now there is a puddle of coolant on my drive gosh darn it

my friend had his car popping out of 5th and all we did was put transmission oil in and that solved our problem...hopefully thats yours too so you don't haft to replace the tranny.

my brothers a4 does this, it could be a shift fork. when it trys to move the operating sleeve off the synchro hub and over the synchro onto the teeth of the gear it is going ****-eyed and so it pops off due to the force and bad angles.
