Default 2000 Civic Dx LS/VTEC help.

Hello HT,

OBD1 into OBD2/b. I ended up using the stock Y7 harness and I am regretting it. I should've just used a 99-00 SI harness.

I believe I know what is causing my issues but just wanted to see if some one can help me here.

Swap is in, I believe I need to do the 3 wire to 2 wire IACV mod the pictures on ffsquad aren't there any more so I am going to try to find a write up on how to do this.

Anyways upon first start up engine would not idle, and backfires here and there.
The engine will not stay on by itself, if I hold the gas down a little bit it stays on.

CELS: (1) O2 Sensor, (15) Ignition output signal, (21) Vtec (Still need to run the wire) I have a B16B head that does not use the pressure switch.

According to https://honda-tech.com/forums/hybrid-engine-swaps-18/%2A-%2A-obd1-b-series-engine-into-obd2a-obd2b-civic-integra-%2A-%2A-1972711/
the SOHC 99-00 came with a different distributor plug (8pin).
Looks like I need to wire in obd1 distributor plugs and get an obd1 vtec distributor. So I think I will need to color match the wires and pin the new plugs into the existing wire harness or
change your dizzy plug to that of a 99-00 Si, 96-98 civic, or 96-01 integra large sized dizzy plug.
If I went this route, aren't there (2) distributor plugs on a vtec distributor? Right now I am using an OBD2 B20 Distributor that I had laying around. I am sorry I am all over the place writing this.

I am hoping that either getting a 99-00 si or 96-98 dizzy plug will take care of the issue I am having, just looking for some guidance with the wiring. This is my first build, not looking for a handout. Thanks

BTW using obd2 to obd1 jumper harness with a P28 on a Phearable Basemap for my build (break in)

obd1 will have 2 plugs. obd2 always had a single plug. all the obd2 b series (minus 99-01 b20) had the square plug versus rectangle. you would have to get a distributor adapter or make your own.

So can I just get a 8 pin to 10 pin distributor conversion harness and use an obd2 vtec dizzy and that should take care of my issue I hope.

Well today I did the 2 wire IACV mod, wired vtec, I tried to just jump the pressure switch wire (jumper harness) to the vtec solenoid wire but I am getting a CEL 22 Vtec pressure switch.

Also, just realized today the OBD2 B20 8pin Distributor I have must be bad because the motor is just running on 2 cylinders. Going to try a buddies dizzy and repin new plugs on the EWH. It's weird I do not have CEL 15 Ignition output signal anymore. Hoping I figure this out tomorrow.

Curious why you're not referencing the LS/VTEC thread found here instead of the one you linked to?

I used that as a base.

I went with eagle rods and 9:1 mahle pistons 99 ctr b16b head. I used the stock y7 harness which has an 8 pin distributor plug. I am using an OBD2 B20 distributor which came as an 8 pin connector as well. I believe the distributor is bad. It's starting and running with 2 cylinders. I no longer have the CEL 15 Ignition output signal) but I believe the distributor is bad, not getting spark in cyl 3&4. My buddy has a distributor that is 10 pin and he has plugs as well I am going to switch it over and try that one out.

VTPS bypass worked, I just drove the car up and down the street. I cannot keep the car on I have to keep giving it gas.

Its running a little weird. I now have a CEL#8 Top dead center.

I am using the stock Y7 Harness, OBD1 Engine into OBD2B with OBDB to obd1 jumper harness going into a chipped and socketed P28. Harness still has 8 Pin dizzy plug and I am using an OBD2 B20 Distributor which also came with an 8 Pin dizzy plug. I have a feeling its the distributor that is bad. While I wait for my friend to come over with another dizzy I am contemplating taking this dizzy apart. I have 2 single cam distributors I can use for parts..

Ok, so I used the above diagram to depin the engine harness 8 pin dizzy plug and connected them to the obd2 10 pin connector. I am still not getting spark in cylinder 1 now. So I de-pinned another dizzy he had which was obd1 and using the same diagram I connected the engine harness side to the obd1 dizzy harness and I am still not firing all 4 and the car will not idle. It cranks and starts and if I keep the gas down a little the car stays on. I'm stumped lol There is no way 3 distributors in a row do not work. Any ideas? I am trying to finish the car before my daughter is born (July 1st Due date).

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks.
