Default 1999 civic ex DIY oil pan gasket job

The instruction from the chilton manual leads me to believe that this is not a Terribly involved job. I am mechanically inclined, but needed some reccomendations or advice as to if I should take this on myself. Any thoughts?

If others can do it, so can you. Seriously, there is nothing complicated. The hardest part may be removing the bolts on the exhaust pipes that might have seized.

It's not too bad. You just need the right specs, parts, tools and supplies. Took me about 3 hours to do a 1998 ex w/ D16Y8 working leisurely. Let the car sit for as long as possible first to let all the oil drain down. Have plenty of rags or paper towels.

Yup, pretty easy. Check on youtube for EricTheCarGuy, he has a video showing you how to change one out. He is one of the best mechanics on youtube with a lot of helpful videos so you can DIY.

well, not meaning to thread jack...but if the oil pan is out, can you see the condition of the front crankshaft seal to see if it is leaking or is it still hidden by the oil pump?

on a scale of 1-10 I give It a 3-4 for a beginner who hasn't done more then swapping out the exhaust. it's more time consuming then anything as you may encounter rust. and tough bolts

post above me: no you have to take the crank pulley off before you can see it. you can remove the pickup and baffle to see the crank/rods which is kind of neat to see.
