***OK BUYING A B20B MOTOR: FEW QUESTIONS***
Alright I found a great deal on B20B motor. Few questions though for you pros out there.
1: Is there any modification to this motor before i drop into my EK hatch?
2: How well does this motor perform when boosted?
3: Is this a good idea?
I was going to get a B16 but i found a great deal for this B20 motor. I have a turbo and most of everything to put it together. So let me know what you think!!!

1. I/H/E
2. MOST WILL SAY STAY AWAY FROM BOOST, KEEP IT STOCK.(WEAK SLEEVES)
I WOULD NOT TRY IT.
3. SELL THAT TURBO KIT, BUY THE B20, GET THE ADD-ONS A WITH A SHORT GEARED TRANNY. NEW MOUNTS AND DROP IT IN, YOU WILL BE HAPPY WITH THE B20 TORQUE.

i say get the b16 if you want boost. the b20 will need an intake mani, short geared tranny etc, and you will want to boost it when youre done... and you cant make that much power, those sleeves are thin.

b20's are fun engines! they don't like to be reved high for a long period of time, so take that into consideration when choosing a transmission. Highway driving at 5k rpm @ 80 (b16 trans) will mess things up after a short while.

I say boost it.
I HEARD from a very reliable source here on H-T that all that **** about "B20's having weak sidewalls were bullshit" and that asside from displacement the blocks were exactly the same as an LS. Therefore if you say the B20's cant hold up well, you're also saying the LS's can't hold up to the same extent.
I'm pretty sure the whole B20's being weak thing is just a rumour going around...nobody's had any proof...
You get a good tune on 10psi and you can run a nice HP daily driver. Even better if you slap a VTEC head on it (you'd want a B16).
As for the tranny, I'd go with an LS or a GSR...or maybe even a B16 with a LS final drive in it...
How well does the motor perform when boosted? Stupid question, don't you think? A motor performs as well as it was built and tuned to...
I'd say it's a very nice idea..
There was a guy on redline Tv running a B20 with a JRSC (9psi I think) in a 1st gen integra (it was eihter that or a CRX..they showed 'em together so I forgot which had which) - either way it hauled *** in the autocross.

b20 have a diffferant type of sleeve its called a Siamese sleeve there all connected together not like a ls where there independent. id say boost it there cheap motors so if you blow it you can get another for like $500

its going to cost you for a mount kit, shift links, tranny, motor, etc... and thats stilol stock 140hp.. just buy a sohc, and put the moeny into building that, and boosting, you can save money and make more hp
ahh duh
if you want over 600whp, then you should get a b20, but.. your not making a drag car.. so just get a sohc
props for being local as well, i'm on the cape

to get 600whp out of a b20, it would take the same amt of work compared to any other motor.... fully built and sleeved shortblock and everything else to support it.
all b series have torque (or at least feel like it), b20 being the best and b16 being the worst, but all are way better than any sohc.

Re: (lightcrx)
B20 motors can be a good motor if they are done right. My advice to you would be to take your B20 and have some rod bolts installed to help it handle higher RPM's, then purchase a B16 or a B18 DOHC V-tec head. You will also need a B-series transmission. And I recommend that you get either a B16 tranny or a Type R tranny. The two are VERY close in gear ratio's and are both very short geared which makes your accceleration greater. The type R tranny has a limited slip differential in it which is good for power distribution. this set-up has produced great numbers for many people. The B20 offers alot of torque, and the B-series heads offer good top-end power. It wouldnt be too bad of an idea to build your B20 block sooner than far down the road due to the fact that they do have weak sleeves. let me know how it goes!!!

Re: (Ohbebe75)
my friend is running 7lbs on a b20 vtec, no problems so far. as long as you dont crank up the boost, you should be fine. Just keep the rpms at a reasonable level, dont go running it to 9k or anything like that.

Re: (4thgenx42)
Good luck with your project.
Just make sure you get a good tune when you go turbo.
That b20b will work well with a p75 ecu to start off with.
All that potential power is tempting but I prefer reliability.
I've been running my b20z2 for over 2yrs now.
It gets to see 7k shifts a few times a month and I like it.
Imagin how hard it would be to keep the wheels from spinning
with a boosted engine. Man.....
as is i will break traction if i do not ease into the shiift on
2nd and 3rd.
