Around here, I usually see chipped P28's go for $50-$100. You can get a brand new jumper for $20-$30, so maybe another $15 for that.

Maybe $20-$50 if you're lucky.

Since you're in VA, check out these FB groups. Lot of stupid in them, but half of the **** I've been buying and selling have gone through there, and the other half have gone through VA-D.

Probably because the guy has to state it has a clean title and blatantly says vin numbers are real. No one with a clean title in their name needs to say that. That's just my guess

Have a friend selling a d16y8 long block for $100. Comes with dizzy and starter. Spun a bearing. Drove a couple miles until motor was swapped out. Car still had about 70% power.

Is it worth it? I have access to a shop and I've rebuilt one motor so I have some knowledge. Just never dealt with spun bearings. Worried about the main journals but I'm not sure how often they're damaged. Is it worth buying and fixing? Might just buy a d16z6 crank instead for better oiling. I think the head alone can sell for 100 to the right buyer if I decide not to fix it

I'd ask for 4500, if I remember right togico blues are OEM like replacements.
That being said camber kits, bleh.
I also wouldn't buy an EM1 without the original B16A2, but thats just me ...

i need help to making a decision. i have a 00 civc vp with a bad d16y7 engine. i have two engines.
d16y7 for $725
d15b for $575

which would come out to be the cheapest after swap and i don't want to use my old exhaust manifold.

Yep. For 100 bucks. I'm thinking all I have to do is replace the crank, bearings, and possibly rod(s). It's kinda a gamble but shouldn't exceed the price of an already working motor

OH no sorry I was asking what the price would be on that as I'm trying to sell one. Unless I'm just confused and you are telling me $100 is a good price?

$100 is pushing it for a D block with a spun bearing. $50 is more on-par. $100 can get you a stripped bare block with matching crank that didn't spin.

Well I'm getting the starter and dizzy along with it. And that's with the head too but that's probably a given. Plus I'm in california. Everyone thinks they're worth more than what they really are here...

You said block, not long block. $100 for a long block with a spun bearing isn't bad.

Hey guys I'm looking to buy a used 1995 honda civic ex, wanting to know if its a good deal at the price, things to look out for during the test drive, and your general opinion and advice on it? I don't want to get a bad civic as my first car.

I have read the FAQ and the list of things to look at when buying a civic, just need a non excited pair of eyes to give me a reality check!

the listing can be see on craigslist here : http://rmn.craigslist.org/cto/4030353772.html

I've been texting the guy and he says it will need a new clutch down the road but all else works!

thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Hell no haha. Buying anything with a spun bearing is pushing it. I just have access to a shop with all I need so I'll take advantage of that. If you scroll way back up there you'll see my first post with the details. If you care enough. If that guy is trying to sell just the shortblock, then yeah. What he said ^ Expect 50.
