The car they came off is a 00 Si with 74k miles. I think he will take 400, but didnt know if that was too much. I dont need the tires, I am basicly just buying the wheels.

ok guys what do you think of this?

http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/cto/4241816679.html

It's pretty much what i want except for the color. I'm a little turned off by the rebuilt title and the price seems low for a gsr swap. Is it something i should pursue more or should i turn away now, get myself a clean ex, and do a gsr swap myself?

^ First red flag is the lack of photos.

Request further pics especially of the motor and ask the circumstances of the salvage title. A dented fender, broken headlight and a busted up bumper will total a car of this vintage with most insurance companies.

Car fax should also have an explanation of circumstances regarding salvage title like: "right front collision with{out} air bag deployment"

I've recently dealt with 2 vehicles that were self insured/repaired which were never reported to insurance. They probably would have been salvage titled if they had been.

A salvage title does not a lemon make.

I'm curious what a garrett gt3076r that's rebuilt with zero miles on it would be worth?

It's a little too much for my power goal of 300 but might be worth flipping it and making a few bucks.

That depends entirely on who rebuilt it.

I was told it came from garrett themselves.

I've heard good things about them. Depending on which exhaust wheel is on it, probably in the $700-$900 range, but only if that rebuild has documentation to prove it, and show that the owner didn't cut corners.

edit: What happened to Work Turbo? That's who you said it was rebuilt by originally...regardless, dollar signs are the same.

Meh. Regardless, as long as the paperwork is there to back it up and show that it was a FULL rebuild and not some halfass "keep it cheap" work, dollar signs stand.

**Please Help**

I ride motorcycles, but I have been thinking about switching over to a safer form of travel. I have become spoiled with the speed of my supersport bikes and would like to get something similar on four wheels.

I am a complete noob to all this, and know nothing about turbos or anything related, so please forgive me. That's why I am coming to you guys for help!

I found a 1995 "highly modified" Civic and would like your opinions. Is this truly a 500HP+ car? If so what would be a fair value for it? Like I said I am a complete noob to all this, so any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Here is the ad:

Built & turbocharged 1995 Honda Civic EX Coupe. This car runs & drives great without any mechanical issues whatsoever. This Civic has tons of time & money invested, & has been highly modified in all areas from the engine to suspension. The DOHC VTEC B18 engine is extremely strong & well built, & has less than 10,000 miles on the engine since the build, & has been properly broken in, & taken cared of very well. It is built to handle 35+psi, & it is only running on 12 for daily driving. It Dyno'd at 465WHP at only 18psi, & that was not even at the highest tune, & could still easily make way more power with the boost set higher. Capable of running 30+PSI & making over 700HP.

Yes its possible that thing made 500+ hp but when you buy someone else's project, well... you're buying someone else's project lol. Its a Good deal in that it costs less than buying everything it has separate and Im sure it would run well for a while but any modified car, especially to that extent will need some care eventually. Something will go and if you have little knowledge and experience modifying cars then that car will end up sitting in your driveway forever (I know too many people that found a built up car on CL, like this, something simple goes wrong and the car sits for eternity)

So in short....

Buy this car: if you are the type of person that will take the initiative to teach yourself or let others teach you about cars, will take the time and spend the money WHEN something goes wrong with the car, and have backup transportation for WHEN something goes wrong. Hondas are great cars to learn on and that one has a lot of potential

DONT BUY THIS CAR: if you are busy, broke, have a wife or kids (and don't still have disposable $) or just don't have the time or patience to figure out whats wrong with one of the 100s of things that shouldn't be on that car.

Just my $.02 from seeing my not-so-mechanically-inclined 'car enthusiast' friends buy modified cars... lets just say theres a few less 500HP DSMs on the road lmao

He wants 3k without the interior (front-rear seats gone) no wheels and the steering wheel replaced with a stocker, also notice the (to me) bondo cracking and the dent in the front fender, he has a new fender for it tho but color matching might be a headache, is it worth it?

it's hard to say. asking price seems somewhat reasonable but i can't tell without seeing it in person and taking a drive in it. the paint does look good besides the crack and the add ons are ok. the wire tuck could turn into a disaster though if anything goes wrong which i don't think is likely but i wouldn't want a car with wiring that was changed around that i didn't do myself

I have a question about some products I've been researching. However I can't really find any user reviews/response about them, so I'm asking for some input. As well, I'm just getting familiar with the car itself, so I'm still learning about the nuances/qwerks of Civic's.

I've got a 2000 civic ex, and I'm working on some basic suspension upgrades. I've gotten so far, BWR lca's, DC sports front/ tie bars, and a lower tie bar. I'm running DC's on my accord and I like how it handles with them. However I'm looking at a Function 7 subframe brace, a BWR sub brace, and an ASR brace.

Aside from the amount of Machining and some fitment adjustment points, I'm not really sure on the level/diff of performance. Let alone the diff in price between each. Seems more like paying for the brand and some machining for looks, but I'd like to know from users about the performance, etc. Let alone would it be useful to have a sub brace with a lower tie bar, and if it can even be fitted.

My goals are tight handling for highway/street use.

What ya guys think? Should I shoot him down anymore? The only thing is the crack in the casing, not a prob for me bc I'm a TIG welder, aluminum doesn't scare me. I only worry about the placement of the crack and most likely will have to pull the motor to weld...what do you guys think?

i need to get shifter Bushing fot my car 00 civic lx is $80 good for installation i purchase the part and the $80 is the installation fee.

Im having a hard time finding the part i need, exactly. my shifter feels very loose and shifting from 1st to 2nd feels weird to get to everything from 3 to 5 is good and reverse sometimes give me small issues for like not being in place, what I'd have to do sometimes is play around with the shifter then shifting back into reverse.

I have no clue why you would even consider buying that car. I would say it is worth a grand if that since you will have to tear it apart.

Could you tell me what's wrong with it aside from the paint/body kit and spoiler? I'm pretty new to cars and all this

To me it looks ugly, really really ugly. if it was stock it would also be overprice by 2-3k.
