Hey Honda-Tech I am looking at getting a Honda Civic with or without a vtec. I new to the Honda scene my brother was really big and I guess it just rubbed off on me anyway I posted some links to the cars. I'm just looking for feedback on the cars. Later on I might want to upgrade some stuff add like a turbo or do a swap.

Out of those 3, I would get the 99. Not for just the interior, but it seems to be taken care of better. The other two looks like they might have some trouble. The guy with the 00 just wants to get another honda/acura so there's something about that one he's not happy with. The 97 had a huge gap between the door and body. Looks like it was in a big accident but who knows. And it's an auto. Just keep looking around until you find a preserved stock car from an older owner who took care of it.

Rear disc swap. He says it's from an SI. I can get it for less than listed. Good deal? Apparently he has lines, calipers, and rotors. I think I need brackets too, I haven't asked yet. Going to put it on a 99 Civic EX

Swapping a gsr motor into my eg, trying to get a feeler of how much a complete d16z6 swap goes for. Rebuilt motor with 15k, all oem parts, si transmission, axles, motor mounts, shift linkage, and p28 ecu. I was maybe thinking trying to sell everything for $650. I know I wont get what i put into it, just trying to get whatever i can to fund my b series. Also thought about buying a shell and putting motor in that and selling the car.

since we're so close to hmotorsonline people just drive up there to get their motors and they're much cheaper and they know the condition of the engine.

Picked up a complete d16z6 short block for $47. No one had change for a 20 lol. Anyways, the block looks good. Flywheel is brand new. Came with thermostat and crank pulley as well. The crank turns smoothly. I can still see the cross hatches in the cylinders. Not sure if there's any other way to test for a spun bearing without taking it apart. I just picked it up this evening. Good deal?

And I was thinking about picking up a y8 long block with a spun bearing for 100. Dear god haha that wouldve been a mistake. Best part is I only had to drive 5 miles and I live out in the rural. looking through craigslist everyday paid off

I am buying a new Civic today. I do not know too much about cars, so I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions on stuff I should look for and ask.

These are a couple I am going to look at today, I live in phoenix and my budget is about 2500-2800.

You don't know anything about cars. Why are you tying to buy a Civic?

Head: $178
resurface, valve job, grind and clean valves, hot tank/clean, install skunk2 valves with new valve seals, skunk2 valve springs and titanium retainers.

Block: $225
decked,bore and hone .5mm over to 75.5mm, hot tank/clean

im fine with the head job the only problem i have is the price for the block
IMO
BLOCK:
decked-$50
hot tank/clean-$40
bore and hone .5mm over $20 per hole X4 = $80
$170

thanks for anyones opinions
i would think this is a deal the springs and retainers alone for mine was $299

Maybe you should try the Integra section. This subforum is for Civics, not Integras.
